‘Worthy is the Lamb that was slain!’ According to the apostle John, penal substitution is something that thousands upon thousands of angels are singing about (Revelation 5:12), and we should be singing too.

Many old hymns are full of the glory of Christ, punished in the place of his people. God has also given some gifted contemporary songwriters a passion for this doctrine. You will find penal substitution everywhere in the songs of Stuart Townend, Matt Redman, Graham Kendrick, Sovereign Grace Music and Emu Music. Why not mention some of these to the music team at your church?
